What's Happening With Silver
Everyone's favorite moonlit metal has been through it lately.
The price of silver has gone up 235 percent in the last year and a half. In September 2024 it was 28 dollars and ounce. Now it's 94 dollars an ounce. Seriously, the 2025 silver price graph looks like the trajectory of Eileen Gu's final run at the Winter Olympics.
The reasons for this are varied and related to mining, scarcity, tech, and a lot of market economy stuff that I don't actually understand. What I do understand is the experience of an artist who works with silver as one of her primary materials. Every jeweler and metalsmith I know has been grappling with this, and almost everyone in the community has been raising their prices.
Pricing and value is such a weighty and loaded topic for both the creator and the collector, and I know no one is doing this lightly.
I will also be raising my prices in 2026 to more accurately reflect the cost of my materials. I'll be doing it gradually over the next few weeks, and any future collections or releases will reflect the current market price of silver.
The good news is that this won't begin until March 9th, so there is plenty of time to get orders in for anything you've had your eye on...
You could also invest in bullion I guess. But where is the poetry in that?
